Edinburgh is unlike any other capital city in the world. It enjoys a wonderful setting, a fascinating history, varied and beautiful architecture, fine art galleries and museums - notably the magnificent, recently opened, Museum of Scotland.

The castle dominates the city, and from it the Royal Mile leads down to Holyrood Palace and the site of the new Scottish Parliament, over which soar the rocky heights of Salisbury Crags.

Edinburgh has lots of atmosphere, good theatres, restaurants and excellent sports facilities. There are opportunities for golf, fishing, riding, sailing and walking in the beautiful countryside or on the coast.

Edinburgh is home to the International Arts Festival, Festival Fringe, Military Tattoo, Film Festival, Jazz Festival, and to the biggest Hogmanay Party in the world.
